Candace Osbourn

Outreach Coordinator

 

Candace was born and raised in Port Elizabeth where she started dancing at the age of five with Marie Gwen Wells. She performed and competed in several competitions including her favorite dance forms of classical Ballet, Modern, Spanish, Highland, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance.

When she matriculated in 1994, she moved to Cape Town, where she attended the Waterfront Theatre College for four years, gaining her Teacher's Associate in ballet and modern. She also completed an Advance Performance Diploma and participated in drama classes.

Once she completed her dance education, she moved to Johannesburg, performing at various Sun International Casinos including Sun City, Carnival City, Gold Reef City and Carousel as well as for several corporate functions for clients such as Vodacom, Barloworld, Clover, Microsoft, Murray & Roberts, Avroy Shlain, Toyota.

In 2004 she joined Dick Foster Productions and Gary Musick Productions in the USA performing in production shows for Celebrity Cruises, a 5 star cruise liner including the Galaxy and Constellation. In 2005 she traveled to Italy where she joined Selection Productions and performed in shows for Costa Cruises.

During these contracts, she was also taught aerial skills such as Webb and Hoops by a tutor from 'Cirque Du Soleil'.

In early 2006, Candace joined The South African Ballet Theatre as Outreach Coordinator managing the outreach programmes in Mamelodi, Soweto, Eesterus, Alexandra, Katlehong, Melville and Sophiatown.

Edgar Moagi

Office and Administration Assistant and Ticketing Manager

 

Edgar was born in Trichardtsdal, Tzaneen and matriculated at Khudu High School in Trichardtsdal. He then obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1998 though the University of the North (Limpopo).

In 1999 he successfully completed a Basic Computer Literacy Course at King David School in Linksfield, Johannesburg and qualified with an Administrative Clerk certificate at the Academy of Learning 2002. That same year he worked as a Data Capturer for Client Server Consulting. In 2003 he joined Wits Global (WBS) (Pty) Ltd as PA to the CEO.

Edgar joined The South African Ballet Theatre in 2004 as an Administrative Assistant. He is the first point of call when contacting the Company, taking bookings for performances and Open Days and assisting in the many and varied tasks at the studios.

Andre de Beer

Company Manager

 
 

Andre is a freelance actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, director, stage manager, company manager, costume designer, assistant for events companies and regular guest artist with The South Africa Ballet Theatre.

He trained at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Pretoria and graduated in 2003 with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre.

As a student he appeared in musicals such as The Boyfriend, Honk!, Stagedoor, Coppélia and Into The Wood. In his 3rd year directed and choreographed A Celebration of Kander & Ebb.

Andre has also had extensive accent and voice training with coaches such as Seranti Reeders, Marga Stander, Heidi Edeling, Adele Strombeck and Fiona Ramsay.

As a freelance performer Andre has appeared in several dance productions such as
The Rite of Spring and Love story: Adam & Eve, Woman choreographed by Pinto Ferreira as well as an appearance at the Dance Umbrella in an original work choreographed by Anso Scroomby. Other appearances include Le Grand Cirque, Show Boat (Malmo and Paris tours), Snow White the Pantomime, Fiddler on the Roof, Fangs, and as Dino in Saturday Night Fever.

Andre enjoys teaching dance, drama and singing. Through this has been involved in several school productions and appears in children’s productions presented by the National Children’s Theatre. He co-directed and choreographed Josef and His Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat’ for Hoërskool General Hertzog and the revue Hoogste Bome for Hoërskool Erasmus.

Andre performed for the first time with The South African Ballet Theatre in Giselle in 2001 as a student. Eleven years later and he still enjoys sharing the stage with SABT and has appeared in Carmen the Ballet as Lilas Pastia, the Burgermeister in Coppélia, Father Stahlbaum in The Nutcracker as well as in Cinderella the Ballet and Friar in Romeo & Juliet at the Joburg Theatre.

Sihaam Pillay

Executive Assistant

 

Sihaam was born in Port Elizabeth and matriculated in 1998 at Parktown College in Johannesburg. She started her administrative career at Fedsure Health as a data capturer and climbed her way up the corporate ladder to PA to the GM.

She then worked as a Client liaison consultant for Multichoice and in 2005 she moved on to Tracker Network as the Insurance Sales Administrator and Assistant.

In 2007 Sihaam joined an NGO for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children in the Fundraising and Marketing department as the Fundraising and Marketing Admin Manager as well as acting as Office Manager and PA.

Sihaam joined South African Ballet Theatre in May 2010 as the Executive Assistant to the company Directors, EXCO as well as the senior management.



Samantha Saevitzon

Publicity & Publications Officer

 

Samantha was born in Johannesburg and studied classical ballet from age three with Faye Rietman and Sylvia Franklin. She has completed her Royal Academy of Dance examinations (Advanced) with Yvonne Lakier and Lyn Sacker as well as Spanish Dance Society (Advanced) with Rhoda Rivkind and matriculated at The Johannesburg Art, Ballet, Drama and Music School. She then received her Diploma in Dance from The University of Cape Town majoring in classical ballet.

Samantha worked for the Vita Promotions for seven years on projects such as the FNB Dance Umbrella, the annual FNB Vita Awards, the FNB Dance Indaba, FNB Dance Shongololo and Umdudo as well as the FNB Vita Art Prize. Her duties included liaison with the regional co- coordinators of various projects, marketing and publicity.

She then worked for Penny Stein Promotions providing publicity support for various concerts and campaigns such as Beyoncé Knowles & Divas (Gauteng), Usher (Gauteng), Coca- Cola 'Real' campaign- launch, the Coca- Cola Mega Millions Game Show on SABC 3, 'Popstars Showcase',

The African Union Concert featuring Hugh Masekela, Oliver Mtukudzi, Letta Mbulu and Lagbaja (Johannesburg), the Gauteng region for the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters competition including the Gala Concert featuring Judith Sephuma, Salaelo Selota and Jimmy Dludlu, the Al Jarreau Tour of South Africa 2001 (Gauteng) as well as the MNet / Vodacom Child Welfare Red Nose Day 2001 (Gauteng).

In October 2006, she joined The South African Ballet Theatre as Publicity & Publications Officer. Samantha is a founding member of PANSA (Performing Arts Network South Africa) since 2002 and was a member of the PANSA Gauteng Provincial steering committee January 2003 to January 2006. She was also a Board member of Walking Gusto Productions - founded by Jeannette Ginslov until September 2006.

Kenneth Mbele

Driver

 

Kenny was born in Alexandra, Johannesburg and matriculated at Sekno-ntoane High School in Soweto. He then joined Putco Limited as the Revenue Officer. In 1988 he worked for the Reshebile Aviation Protection Services (RAPS) as a Fleet Manager and in 2004 joined The South African Ballet Theatre.

Kenny transports the dancers who attend the bi-weekly ballet classes in Alexandra to and from their classes as well as rehearsals. He also fulfils the delivery function for The SABT Office staff, assists with touring and staff transport during each of the Company's four annual seasons. Kenny has transported well - known personalities such as Jean-Paul Comelin, Allan Stephenson and Li Cunxin when they collaborate with The SABT.

He drives a Peugeot box setter.
